I love restaurants where you can lounge as well as dine and Al Maeda is no exception. However you want to spend your time, whether at the bar over a couple of drinks, on the couch enjoying a good read, sitting indoors or al fresco while the weather permits, you’ve got all those options here. What’s more, from Sundays to Thursdays you can savor lunch for AED 99 with complimentary beach and pool access. Check out my stories to get a feel of this contemporary Arabic dining gem at the Doubletree by Hilton Jumeirah.
Whilst seated at the restaurant prior to being served a sumptuous Levantine feast, we struck up a conversation with Chef Lawrence. Aside from giving us an introduction as to what we can expect from the special menu he had prepared, we had casually talked about how long each of us at the table had lived in Dubai. From a little lass of 4, I grew up to the taste of Arabic food, so it was no surprise I had my fill! 😋
The hummus with kuboos was of course the first thing that we wiped off the plate, but surprise, surprise, another version of hummus with pistachio trumped it! The fattoush was very refreshing with the right amount of crunch, and I had to fight over the Sambousek and Kebbeh. For the mains, the Smoked Frikih was absolute decadence, slow cooked lamb bedded over a wheat alternative to rice. Finally, the Chicken Shish Tawook with a side of pungent garlic paste made for a lunch well spent.
