To rove is to travel constantly, to wander, to roam, and if your travels are taking you to the cosmopolitan city of Dubai, then there’s #noplacelikerove. Follow me to Rove Downtown where Arabic culture meets urban modernism.
Rove Downtown is a self-service establishment, which is what makes it so affordable. Think Ikea for Hospitality. And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with lifting a finger once in a while, right? Dubai’s luxurious lifestyle has made us such spoilt folks!
It is a quaint bed-and-breakfast with artsy and modern-vintage decor at every nook and cranny. The most popular and instagram-ready is the wall next to the main lobby with mixed-matched frames and memorabilia that somehow reminded me of an antique shop. This charming little corner of the Rove Downtown hotel is as inviting as a scrapbook of memories, the perfect chill-out spot for a cup of tea or a tête-à-tête with friends.
The hotel is fully equipped with digital tech, from the unique clocks, to the #rovedowntown social wall in the lobby, to the motion sensor air-conditioner controls in your #rover room. With several workstations, a video game lounge, and free wifi so you can instantly upload your selfies, millennials will feel right at home here. And if you’re looking for hashtags to slip into your captions, Rove Downtown has plenty to choose from!
What I found most interesting was the locker room, as this is the first hotel in my experience that had such a facility. Rove Downtown gives its guests storage space to lock up their belongings in the event that one arrives before check-in time or will be departing post check-out time. You can use the hotel’s facilities such as the gym and pool all day, or go out and explore the city without having to worry about your luggage.
And if you’re looking to have your fill on the weekend, The Daily all-day dining restaurant hosts ‘The Bench Brunch’ on Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 3:30pm for just AED 99 per person. I was thrilled to have brunched out at one of Dubai’s hippest restaurants with a remarkable crew more social than Facebook, more candid than Instagram and more chatty than Twitter. I love it when walking in to a restaurant is like meeting new friends. Thank you guys!
Eat all you can from a variety of breads, salads, cereals, cold cuts, cheeses and juices, and get one main dish from the kitchen and a hot beverage. I ordered a latte and fluffy pancakes with a gushing lava of blueberries and a soft center which was quite a pleasant surprise. And I was a tad bit generous with that maple syrup. The hubby tried the shakshouka eggs dish, of Tunisian and other parts of North African origin, it is a breakfast favorite that can be served any time of the day. It is made of eggs over a tomato based Mediterranean spiced gravy. It’s a bit like a Mexican chilli without the minced meat.
Rove Downtown is a boutique hotel in close proximity to Dubai’s most sought after landmark, the Burj Khalifa, the massive Dubai Mall and the hub of fun, food and entertainment, Downtown Dubai. So it’s the perfect locale for tourists looking for accommodation that won’t break the bank, but is still very much at the heart of city.
