Oh, how time flies! Since I posted my second look in collaboration with Marks & Spencer three weeks have past, and in that short amount of time my lovely baby bump has grown. I have officially begun my ‘Pregnancy without Maternity Challenge’ which means I shall go through the whole nine months without any maternity wear, and I’m calling the segment ‘Baby Mama Lookbook’.
As most of my readers know, I often choose key wardrobe pieces based on versatility. I like to be able to carry an outfit from the office to a press event, transition a look from day to night, and right now it has become my mission to find apparel that will work with and without my pregnant belly.
So as I was browsing through the Marks & Spencer’s new Spring 2014 collection, I found this navy blue empire cut dress with a metal plate tie-back belt, that strikes the perfect balance between simplicity and elegance.
It is made of soft stretch jersey material that will mould to my figure as my belly starts to grow and though the dress has a modest cut, the breathable fabric makes it good enough for summer days as well. What’s more, this dress can take me from a daytime brunch to a dinner party, as well as from work to any blog-related extracurricular activity in the evening.
Sometimes the best color is not really a color at all. ‘Nude’ or ‘skin tone’ is akin to the neutral black or white that can typically lend itself to almost any outfit. I paired an understated nude clutch and court shoes with the navy blue dress, to create a minimalistic but polished third look.
Many people have asked me whether I still wear high heels while I’m pregnant. I do on occasion, but only to events where I have to make an appearance for 2 hours or preferably less. The good news is that Marks & Spencer has a great collection of shoes with mid-size heels that can still give you a bit of height, but lets you walk in comfort without the ‘high’ risk of tripping!
The Spring 2014 collection is available now. So, come on and head over to your nearest Marks & Spencer store today, before I raid the place and grab everything that catches my eye! 🙂 Stay tuned for my fourth and final look this week.
